THE BOYS IN THE BAND is a straight play which takes place in an apartment, telling the story of 8 gay men who attend a birthday party, featuring an unexpected guest. It is deeply rooted in reality.
This is not a show which heavy cueing was necessary or appropriate. My work was largely done based off the locations of the actors. As the show is quite dramatic, I found it important that the lighting always be focused to where the action of the scene was happening. All cues were slow and delicate, as to not take away from the action on stage.
