This show was a blast, but was certainly a unique challenge.
On day 1 of tech week, the production team was informed that the light board had broken, and would not be fixed in time for rehearsals or opening night,
We quickly switched into solution mode; gathering all the remote controlled LEDs, household lamps, and sunset lamps that we could find.
I connected all the fixtures to seperate surge protectors. Each surge protector was used for different locations throughout the play. During a transition, the operator flipped 2 switches; one for the surge protector for the new location lights, and one to turn off the old location lights on a different surge protector. The operator would also change the color of the LEDs via remote control, which also aided in location differentiation.
What began as an unexpected challenge turned into a perfect way to practice the ability to think on my feet. This setup was completed in a days time, and the remainder of tech ran smoothly and efficiently. This never could have been completed without the flexibility of the creative team-- it was a beautiful display of teamwork and determination.
