THE VEHICLES THAT BROUGHT ME HERE is a series of 3 plays written by upcoming playwright Joshua Piper. The plays focused around modes of transportation and the types of transformational experiences we may have while traveling from place to place. The first play focused on a car, the second in a variety of subway cars, and the 3rd in an airport. This was a staged reading, so scripts were in hand and nothing but chairs were used to create the set.
These plays all took place within the same world, so it was important to me that the lighting stayed in the same world too, regardless of change in location. I accomplished this by being very intentional about isolation, and always ensuring there was some sort of cool light present,
The 3rd play, PLACE OF DEPARTURE (pictured last) went on to play at the Wild Project as a part of their Fresh Fruit Festival. I also lit this production, but unfortunately, production photos were not taken. But it happened! And it was lovely.
